Page 2 implies that Zoe lived as a teen on a moon called
Artemis. This is the first mention of that moon.
Zoe was Teen Boxing Champion of the Artemis Moon Junior Horse
Ranch.
Pages 4-7 have a flashback in Zoe's memory to the Unification
War and the Battle of Monterrey Moon. This is the first mention
of Monterrey Moon.
In the flashback on page 6, Hatfield tells Zoe he saved her life
to pay her back for saving his more than once, including at Eden
Prairie. This is the first mention of Eden Prairie in the
'Verse.
In the flashback, General Hamner orders the use of naplasma to
burn the browncoat troops in battle. This obviously is a play on
"napalm", an incendiary mixture in use in flame-throwers and
fire bombs since WWII.
When their cover is blown at the brothel, Inara says, "Unless
there's two brothels in this one bit town, I'm out of safe
havens," and Kaylee remarks, "Well, Inara, we could hide with
the dancing girls at the can-can revue."
The can-can is a high energy dance popular in cabarets.
In orbit, Serenity is pursued by the Alliance
superclass command ship Mantus.
